When the good doctor slapped life into Carlo D’Amore that middle-of-the-night in Lima Peru, his scream could no doubt be heard all the way to Machu Pichu! He has been roaring ever since with his indomitable spirit and his uniquely theatrical style. At the forefront of a growing trend of multi-ethnic personalities, Carlo certainly qualifies. Part Incan Indian, Italian, French and Spanish with a healthy splash of zany, he has been delighting both audiences and critics alike with his unique and energetic presence from an early age.
Carlo is the creator of Live IN Theater productions as well as an actor, playwright, director, and educator with decades of experience in theatre (Broadway, off Broadway, regional and international credits), television, national radio, and film. He has been involved in groundbreaking productions across the country. His hit solo play NO PAROLE was named one of the top ten plays in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2007 and was nominated for an Audience Favorite Award in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland the biggest theater festival in the world. He has been an educator for seventeen years and has extensive teaching credentials, which include collaborations with The New Victory Theater, The American Place Theater, Queens Theater in the Park, The Red Ladder Theater Company, and the Educational Network of Artists in Creative Theater.
His Broadway credits include appearances in the Roundabout Theater Company’s production of Tennessee William's "Summer and Smoke" directed by David Warren, and “Latinologues” at the Helen Hayes Theater, directed by Cheech Marin, in which Carlo played nine characters to sold out crowds. Latinologues was the first fully Latino written, produced, and directed production in Broadway history. Performances Off and Off-off Broadway include appearances at the Lark, Urban Stages, Repertorio Espanol, Ensemble Studio Theater, Manhattan Playhouse, Nada 45, The Theater at Riverside Church, The Rattlestick Theater, Lucille Lortel Theater and Saint Veronica's Theatre. He has been awarded several grants for his work from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and is currently working on FEET FIRST another solo piece focusing on the true story of his uncle’s life. He is also developing NO PAROLE into a feature film.

D’Amore’s film and television credits include work with director Spike Lee for a project at Forty Acres and a Mule. “When In Rome;” an Angelica Houston project by Disney, "I the Sinner” (Yo Pecador) in Bogotá, Colombia where he was awarded the Oso de Plata award; principal parts in two of Miles Khan's films, "The Tool" and Cannes Film Festival award-winner, "Fly Trap," both of which played to international audiences. He also played the principal role of Mario in Lion's Gate feature film "State Property 2" directed by rap mogul Damon Dash. “Strapped” by Joe Graham, out 2011. Carlo made his television debut in the critically acclaimed series “OZ,” directed by Tom Fontana. "Pan Am" opposite Christina Ricci 2011.
In regional theater he was one of the youngest performers to appear at San Francisco’s legendary MAGIC THEATRE, which has spawned such talents as Ed Harris and Robert Woodruff. Of the many productions in which he was featured in California several are particularly noteworthy as they influenced his style and direction at the same time. "NIGHT TRAIN TO BOLINAS" and "A PARK IN OUR HOUSE" by Pulitzer winning playwright Nilo Cruz gave D’Amore a reconnect with his heritage and ethnic uniqueness.
After becoming a part of the world-renowned THEATRE RINOCEROS, including working in the highly acclaimed one-man work, "MEN ON THE VERGE OF A HIS-PANIC BREAKDOWN" he appeared in three other productions there including "TWELFTH NIGHT" Directed by acclaimed director Danny Schei. He continued honing his image and onstage personae. Asked to join the innovative actor-training program at American Conservatory Theater (ACT), he then appeared with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival Shakespeare in the Park and touring companies. With SF Shakes some of his favorite roles were Touchstone and Silvius in "AS YOU LIKE IT" and Thisbe in Midsummer Night’s Dream.
As a director one of his favorite productions was the New York premiere of “Voices From Guantanamo,” a dramatization of poems written by detainees held at Guantanamo Bay, for the Actors and Poets Group. The poems, were published by Iowa Press in conjunction with the Center For Constitutional Rights and Amnesty International. This production was hailed by credits and ran an off Broadway for an unprecedented eight months.
Carlo created The Ryan Case 1873 in the spring of 2008, to be a unique event utilizing theater to bring history alive in a visceral experience, placing the audience in the driver’s seat as they “live” inside the action. The creation of Live IN Theater Productions marks his first foray into experiential theater. He is currently working on developing creative content including Bootlegger's Run, an interactive exploration of Prohibition-era East Village and Harlem Hustle, an experience taking audiences through significant moments in the history of Harlem from its heyday to the very beginnings of the hip-hop movement.
