Live in Theater Actors Series: Phoebe Dunn

July 27, 2018

We are back again with a third blog post in our Actors Series. In this series, we introduce you to our outdoor immersive theater in NYC actors! Meet Live in Theater actress Phoebe Dunn. Catch her on the streets of New York in our Murder mystery experiences NYC!

Q: How did you become a part of the Live in Theater cast?

A: I met Carlo at a panel for interactive work. He had seen me in a show with another company. A year later he asked me to participate in a 4 day workshop with the company. After a few days he asked me to join Live In.

Q: What are the differences between interactive theater and traditional theater?

A: Spontaneity, the script changes every show. The audience plays a leading role in how these shows run. Since every audience is different every show is completely different from the others.

Q: What is your favorite element of interactive work?

A: The unexpected .Those moments where your listening meets the enthusiasm of an audience member making for a great moment.

Q: What is your experience with acting on the streets of New York?

A: It was scary at first but that was part of the challenge. I now see the streets of NY as a gift. They give you so much if you stay open to it.

Q: Who would be one historical figure in history you would like to play?

A: Anyone with a big period costume. Marie Antoinette?

Q: What do you love about the character(s) you play?

A: They are all different and are characters I might not get to play otherwise.

Q: What’s the biggest challenge about taking on your character(s)?

A: Playing multiple characters in one show can get tough. Making them specific and unique. The accents can get mixed up.

Q: What’s the last thing you do before an experience begins?

A: I take a deep breath and tune into my awareness.

Q: What did you add to the persona of the character during the interactive experience? ( a trait, a habit, a bio fact)

A: I bring as much of myself to each character.

Q: What do you do when you’re not doing theater?

A: Rock Climbing and working at The Wing

Q: If you had a magic wand, what show would you do next?

A: Anything where I get to wear a big period costume. Maybe some romance in there too ;)
